Takoyaki Maker (PRODUCT REVIEW)

Hello, foodies! It’s a long long time I didn’t post anything in my blog. I apologize prefusly to all my loyal visitors. Just in case I’ll tell you that now, I’m a colleger!! Taraahh 😀 I’m a colleger in Sekolah Tinggi Teknik Surabaya (STTS) which located in Ngagel areas, Surabaya. There I’m studying my first bachelor degree majoring in informatics. Sure, I’m in love with technology so damn much! Actually I want majored in electro but finally I decided to take the informatics one after a lot of consideration. There, Since August I’ve started my students orientation (in my campus called by PK : Pekan Kampus). There’re a lot of good and bad memories there. The good one that I found my another family there, my warm friendship, after a lot of long winding road around PK’s sessions. I’m being so busy to do my student orientation and some side-jobs (as you know I have an online shop and some coaching job now). They would be the only two reasons why I don’t have time to make any post recently. I’m so sorry (again) :'(So in this post I would make another review. This time I’m not going to talk about food, but something interesting beside food. About a few days ago I got a called that said if I got the opportunity to get a “Takoyaki Maker” from an event that I joined some weeks ago in instagram. And tonight, the machine came to my house. As a regard to those who gave me that machine, I should be posting at least a picture on my instagram account (@Chippeido). (you can see from the GIF picture bellow) I got it! I got a perfect takoyaki with a very easy way. Here are my thoughts about this product :**Advantages**(+) Can help to cook a perfect (ball) of takoyaki(s) without having to pick it to make it perfectly round(+) Only took 500W to use this machine**The shortcomings**(-) I still can feel the heat on the handle, so I still should use cooking gloves to open and close the machine during it’s cooked time.

Apeng Kwetiau Medan (REVIEW)

Hi! It has been a long time since I wrote my last post. Sorry I’ve been busy lately because of a lot of things to do. I even didn’t come to Robokidz to practice for my robotic olympiad that will be held on the next September. I’m so busy with my online shop, design and web request, and so on. Especially that my little cousins come and will stay here for about a month. Because I’m the oldest (child) here so I must keep them safe said my parents. That’s why.. I waste my time to write in my blog to take care of them although they’re not too young to be guarded.So as I said if my cousins (and also their parents) came to my house, that’s mean.. CULINARY TIME!! So the day before yesterday I was going explore my city and arrived at Apeng Kwetiau Medan as the last place in my one day journey list. There I full fill my empty belly after haven’t eaten for a whole day long!

Take a look with the price range.. Not too expensive, right? It’s quite cheap at all! And they also put the picture of the menus bellow.

The picture above is about what my aunty chose as her dinner. Kwetiau Goreng (IDR38k). I’ve ever tasted it, yummy!

Don’t be confuse, the picture above is Kwetiau Siram (IDR38k). The food that I chose as my dinner that day. Tasted like a porridge, so soft and…delicious!

Actually I haven’t know about their pickles before. But one of my aunties said that their (Apeng) pickles is the characteristic of this restaurant.

Okay, that’s it. I should go back to work. And my little cousins are waiting for me to play with them immediately. So I’ll end this review here. See ya! Don’t forget to come to this one of a famous restaurant in Surabaya. 😉

San Bao Chi (REVIEW)

I was very hungry today. I can’t find some ingredients I need to cook, and my grandma wasn’t cooking today. So she let me to go somewhere to grab some foods to full fill my belly. At first, I was just thinking of accompany my mom to go somewhere, then delivering my (online shop) customers then. After that because we passed Darmo street, so I asked my mom why not to go to Royal Plaza looking for some foods. Few times ago, I remembered when my old friend posted a kind of crispy snack that I love the most. There I thought to go to that new food booth in the 3rd floor around the food court section. This new kinda food is called by San Bao Chi. I think the name’s origin was from China or Taiwan because I found hanzi that I found above the words ‘San Bao Chi’ in its booth.

The characters I think taken from chinese alphabeth. The hanzi (三宝鸡) read in pinyin by Sānbǎojī.

Actually I have been walking around about 4 times until I found its seller. After I went back, the seller said if she’s just going to buy some eggs and oils because she run out of its stock. Okay, no problem. As long as I can taste this crispy snack that I heard the rumors if it has the best taste than others.

Look at the menu. You must find something wrong with it, mustn’t you? The price! Yes it was. I was lucky this day. I got a lower price for buying this crispy snack today. The seller said that it was a promo today and I’m the lucky one lol. She said if the normal price was around IDR 25k for the premium one.

How cute the character it was.. Oh my goodness!

I ordered the premium one with the two combined seasoning, BBQ which is the popular one and Balado because I’d like my crispy snack got a little hot but not too hot either (IDR 20k). I got surprised at the first bite.. OMG!! What did the seller say was right! This is the best chicken crispy snack EVER! It was so crispy, and after I bring it home it’s still tastes crispy. Very very very super high recommended!

It has some booths in another city but in Surabaya still in Royal Plaza only. It will soon opened at Marvell City Mall in Surabaya.

Bernardi Factory Shop (REVIEW)

I’ve been thinking for almost a month to decide about the next Robotic Olympiad that will be held in Surabaya around next September. Actually I should go practicing in the usually place since the beginning of this month. But I was waiting for the announcement of my national exam the last Friday. I just started to practice in Robokidz (my usually place to practice robotic and sometimes I were helping there also as a coach). Actually (because -they said- I’m a maniac) I should go there today. But a few minutes before I took my motorcycle key, my brother called me and asked me to join him going to Bernardi. Because I’ve never went there yet, so I changed all my whole plan to practicing and seems didn’t wanna lost this chance. haha! Bernardi is one of the famous factory shop that you often hear about their frozen product. They established in 1980 which began to work in the province of East Java.

They have around 3 wooden tables and some other tables that consist of these much kind of sausage. So you can try using anyone that you like.

It’s melted.. It’s melted!! OMG, love it!!

For the drink I tried this kind of green tea. Actually when I ordered this I was thinking it should be served in a cup like a cappuccino or other kind like that, but I got misunderstood of this one. But it’s okay, this one taste not bad too.

About it’s price.. You should be surprized with this because it made from a kinda meat but cost cheapy. I think I can order about two until three to full fill my belly *kidding*

Thoughts
This factory shop is clean enough.
They have two toilets besides the factory shop (I mean outside) that is not too dirty.
Their foods and drinks are very cheap. (I love it! hahaha)
They serve kindly. All the waitress are so friendly.

Pok Pok | My Crispy Snack (REVIEW)

Before I write a new post, let me say ‘Happy Graduation, Guys!’ Congratulation for you who have been graduated from high school (me too!! lol). So for the next day and for the next three years I’ll be a colleger. Some asked me where will I go for my college. Here I’ll tell you that I’m going to Sekolah Tinggi Tekhnik Surabaya or known as iSTTS or STTS.

Okay, today I’d like to review about something crispy. Yuummm!

Pok Pok My Crispy Snack

It’s located outside the East Cost Center (ECC) building. Among a lot of food and drink boothes. About its decor and others, I saw this booth from quite far but I can directly found it because of it’s lighting (I think you’d also can find it easily). I love it’s decoration actually its booth design and about the chicken hahaha.

The prices is very affordable! Around IDR 10k – 19k only. I chose to buy ‘Crispy Chicken’ because I thought if the meat also contained in it. But when I got my order, I consider if it was only the skin! 😦 Okay, assume that it was a little misunderstanding. I tried to use black papper and curry seasoning on it, but when I started to chew it.. The flavor seems less mixed. I only tasted the black papper seasoning on some pieces and the curry on the other pieces.. (Maybe you can use a bowl or something to help mixing the seasoning. So that the seasoning would be mixed well).

When I looked around and heard the other buyers mostly order the ‘Chrispy Dori’. It made from a Dori fish. Okay, I’ll back here again soon and try the Dori ones hahaha.

Look! As I said before, the booth was sooooo bright and the design… I LOVE IT VERY MUCH! Seems so cheerful, funny, cute, blablablah <3<3

The last, about its portion. I think for that kind of price range, the portion was quite too much. But it’s okay for us (buyers), right? hahaha. Because I bought it in the evening, and I think I can just eat that without eating anything more for dinner. After all, It’s recommended. (y)

Food Photography Workshop by Martografi, Palacio Wedding Chapel, and Jack! (‘Story on a Plate’)

Yesterday was an AMAZING day! I’ll tell you right start from the morning. Every Sunday I always go to church to attend the very first mass at 5.30AM. I’m joining acolyte organization, and directly I was on task that day. Usually the task should include 4 acolytes in one mass and yesterday.. I was the only one acolyte who came and on duty! It was my very first time had on duty alone but it’s okay, I got a new experience and that’s one thing which started my AMAZING day yesterday.

A few times ago, I join in Instagram give away and how luck I got the opportunity to join in a workshop. This workshop was handled by Martografi, such an student activity unit at Petra Christian University (UKP), Surabaya. In this workshop also invited such the alumni of UKP who also had business on Food Photography. I was so glad to receive the (free) ticket from that giveaway considering the expert food photographer that I admired his food photograph a lot(Jack), was the speaker of that workshop! So although I was about to go to the place that I should be the youngest one there without no friends who accompanied me (because its cost), I still insist to come to that workshop, ALONE! What a big courage to take hahaha

So first time when I arrived there, I had no idea what to do. I don’t find any people that I know as well and also that place seems a bit dark (I haven’t go to Palacio yet). But I took my confidence to walk inside and asked to security or every people I met on my way. Finally, I find the room that the workshop held in and I started to give my sign on the participant papers. How surprised I was that I found that I’m the only one who didn’t have NRP (something like a college student’s ID number). That means.. I’m really the youngest here! Okay, fine I’ll become a colleger soon hahaha

Inside the workshop room, I didn’t find anyone that I ever met before. To get new friends as soon as possible (so I don’t have to keep silent during the workshop), I sit beside a girl who also sit alone there. Later I know if she’s also came there alone because she want to get some points for her college score. There I started my journey today, in a crowded place that I’m the youngest one, and surely the weird-appearance one hahaha!

Mother’s Day (Universal), Bread Making

Hi! Today I’m about to post about what my mum made a few days ago (I’ve uploaded the picture on my Instagram). At the past, all the old generation of human only ate raw wheat. Then they smashed them and give some water on it in order to make them become soft. They keep eating soft-raw wheat until there come an age when they finally know how to burn food. They burn that soft-raw wheat and the process to cultivate a wheat, continuously developed until now. Here I have a little bit pictures about some very cute bread that my mum made few days ago.

Sinom Mbok Dhe and Blue-Roof Cart Siomay (REVIEW)

Some people often judge every jobs as easy as they find out how much they get as the salary. There are no such jobs which you can do as easy as you think. Do you see he/she with a lot of money in their hand? And you started to do as they did with a bet in your mind that you would get at least the same like they get. Have you ever think of ‘what you have given to your boss in return?’. Were you doing your job well? Were you treat your poor neighbor well too? Think it by your self. I won’t answer it here. And just for info that I’m not a psychologist, I just an ordinary human the same like you 🙂 Just want you to know, there’s nothing easy in this world. Just the way you do, decide how you will feel and what you will get.

Lately, I often meet people who asked me for jobs but firstly they asked about how much the salary that I got from some part time jobs that I’m in. I didn’t tell them about how much salary I got. One of the reason is because I respect my boss. My answer didn’t stop them to ask more and more. They started to ask about the requirement needed. I told them some that it (should) be and said that I can’t help further because I was not applying but I was asked before. How pitiful, after they know some of requirement needed, most of them said ‘Ah, It’s so complicated. I won’t join it.’ and their story ended there. Some of you might know about my many part time jobs. Online shop, coach, teaching, writer, designer, and so on. Some might think that I did them all because I looking for some money. Actually not like that! I’m doing those jobs, because I love doing them all. I’m an active person so I MUST do a lot of things in a day or I would sick! 😦

Okay, forget all stories I talked about above. It was just a little part of my thought that I would like to share to you :). Back to the topic, today I would like to share you about my day (the day before yesterday, #lol). I accompanied my mum to a lot of places yesterday and ended at Bilka Supermarket to check mum’s cookies that she entrusted there. After that, she knew that I was a bit thirsty so she offer me a drink. Because I often drink Sinom Mbok Dhe, so I asked her to buy me one. Also when we’re out from that building, we found Siomay and Batagor cart outside. It was my favorite snack! I ever buy it two portion and didn’t get any meals beside it hahaha. So I also bought one portion of siomay from that blue-roof cart. hahaha

Ti Kwe / Kue Keranjang / Kue Ranjang (‘What I Ate Today’ – Part III / Last Part)

Hi, this is my last post (read : spam, lol) today. So in this last part, I’ll share about my favorite Chinese cake. Indonesian people often called it ‘Kue Keranjang’ or some others called it with ‘Kue Ranjang’. But as I’m a Hokkian, so my family and I called this sweet cake with ‘Ti Kwe’. Its name taken from how it be shaped using basket or keranjang. Made from glutinous rice flour and sugar. This typical cake that became must in Lunar New Year or other Chinese Celebration, have a physical form as a chewy and sticky cake. You can both steam and sprinkle it with grated coconut or you can cover it with egg and fried it in heat vegetable oil. I haven’t tried to eat it with grated coconut considering I don’t like coconut, so I just fried it with egg in the medium heat of vegetable oil.

Pasta – Macaroni Gratin (‘What I Ate Today’ – Part II)

After going to the church, I checked my social media then I slept until about 1PM. After that, I felt so hungry and I started to starve for some foods. Considering today there are flower festival in the center of Surabaya, that means I can’t go somewhere to grab my lunch. I thought to make my own lunch by experiment from some favorite youtube chanel that I’ve subscribed. I mixed their recipe and TARAAH!! I found my own recipe. Check it out bellow 😀

How to make ‘Macaroni Gratin Pasta’

Ingredients :

1/2 Onion

1 potato

100 gr Chicken Fillet

200 ml Milk (or you can use soy milk for less calories)

Cheese (you can use any kind of cheese here. Just will be used as topping)

Melted Butter

Tapioca Flour

Broth Block

Salt

Pepper

Water

Vegetable Oil

How to make :

1. Slice the onion and potato into thin slices like on my picture below

2. Cut the Chicken Fillet into a little square

3. Season the Chicken Fillet with salt and pepper

4. Heat the frying pan with medium heat

5. Pour the onion, potato, and chicken fillet in it

6. Stir it and make sure all the components covered with oil

7. Add the milk little by little, then stir it again

8. Add a pinch of salt, pepper, and the melted butter, stir

9. Take a little bowl, pour the tapioca flour and add some water, mixed them over

10. Add the liquid tapioca flour into the frying pan and stir it until thick

11. Grated cheese on the top and served while warm 🙂
