Pok Pok | My Crispy Snack (REVIEW)

Before I write a new post, let me say ‘Happy Graduation, Guys!’ Congratulation for you who have been graduated from high school (me too!! lol). So for the next day and for the next three years I’ll be a colleger. Some asked me where will I go for my college. Here I’ll tell you that I’m going to Sekolah Tinggi Tekhnik Surabaya or known as iSTTS or STTS.
Okay, today I’d like to review about something crispy. Yuummm!
Pok Pok My Crispy Snack
It’s located outside the East Cost Center (ECC) building. Among a lot of food and drink boothes. About its decor and others,Β I saw this booth from quite far but I can directly found it because of it’s lighting (I think you’d also can find it easily). I love it’s decoration actually its booth design and about the chicken hahaha.

The prices is very affordable! Around IDR 10k – 19k only. I chose to buy ‘Crispy Chicken’ because I thought if the meat also contained in it. But when I got my order, I consider if it was only the skin! 😦 Okay, assume that it was a little misunderstanding. I tried to use black papperΒ and curryΒ seasoning on it, but when I started to chew it..Β The flavor seems less mixed. I only tasted the black papper seasoning on some pieces and the curry on the other pieces.. (Maybe you can use a bowl or something to help mixing the seasoning. So that the seasoning would be mixed well).

When I looked around and heard the other buyers mostly order the ‘Chrispy Dori’. It made from a Dori fish. Okay, I’ll back here again soon and try the Dori ones hahaha.

The last, about its portion. I think for that kind of price range, the portion was quite too much. But it’s okay for us (buyers), right? hahaha. Because I bought it in the evening, and I think I can just eat that without eating anything more for dinner. After all, It’s recommended. (y)

Food Photography Workshop by Martografi, Palacio Wedding Chapel, and Jack! (‘Story on a Plate’)

Yesterday was an AMAZING day! I’ll tell you right start from the morning. Every Sunday I always go to church to attend the very first mass at 5.30AM. I’m joining acolyte organization, and directly I was on task that day. Usually the task should include 4 acolytes in one mass and yesterday.. I was the only one acolyte who came and on duty! It was my very first time had on duty alone but it’s okay, I got a new experience and that’s one thing which started my AMAZING day yesterday.
A few times ago, I join in Instagram give away and how luck I got the opportunity to join in a workshop. This workshop was handled by Martografi, such an student activity unit at Petra Christian University (UKP), Surabaya. In this workshop also invited such the alumni of UKP who also had business on Food Photography. I was so glad to receive the (free) ticket from that giveaway considering the expert food photographer that I admired his food photograph a lot(Jack), was the speaker of that workshop! So although I was about to go to the place that I should be the youngest one there without no friends who accompanied me (because its cost), I still insist to come to that workshop, ALONE! What a big courage to take hahaha
So first time when I arrived there, I had no idea what to do. I don’t find any people that I know as well and also that place seems a bit dark (I haven’t go to Palacio yet). But I took my confidence to walk inside and asked to security or every people I met on my way. Finally, I find the room that the workshop held in and I started to give my sign on the participant papers. How surprised I was that I found that I’m the only one who didn’t have NRP (something like a college student’s ID number). That means.. I’m really the youngest here! Okay, fine I’ll become a colleger soon hahaha
Inside the workshop room, I didn’t find anyone that I ever met before. To get new friends as soon as possible (so I don’t have to keep silent during the workshop), I sit beside a girl who also sit alone there. Later I know if she’s also came there alone because she want to get some points for her college score. There I started my journey today, in a crowded place that I’m the youngest one, and surely the weird-appearance one hahaha!

Mother’s Day (Universal), Bread Making

Hi! Today I’m about to post about what my mum made a few days ago (I’ve uploaded the picture on my Instagram).Β At the past, all the old generation of human only ate raw wheat. Then they smashed them and give some water on it in order to make them become soft. They keep eating soft-raw wheat until there come an age when they finally know how to burn food. They burn that soft-raw wheat and the process to cultivate a wheat, continuously developed until now. Here I have a little bit pictures about some very cute bread that my mum made few days ago.

Sinom Mbok Dhe and Blue-Roof Cart Siomay (REVIEW)

Some people often judge every jobs as easy as they find out how much they get as the salary. There are no such jobs which you can do as easy as you think. Do you see he/she with a lot of money in their hand? And you started to do as they did with a bet in your mind that you would get at least the same like they get. Have you ever think of ‘what you have given to your boss in return?’. Were you doing your job well? Were you treat your poor neighbor well too? Think it by your self. I won’t answer it here. And just for info that I’m not a psychologist, I just an ordinary human the same like you πŸ™‚ Just want you to know, there’s nothing easy in this world. Just the way you do, decide how you will feel and what you will get.
Lately, I often meet people who asked me for jobs but firstly they asked about how much the salary that I got from some part time jobs that I’m in. I didn’t tell them about how much salary I got. One of the reason is because I respect my boss. My answer didn’t stop them to ask more and more. They started to ask about the requirement needed. I told them some that it (should) be and said that I can’t help further because I was not applying but I was asked before. How pitiful, after they know some of requirement needed, most of them said ‘Ah, It’s so complicated. I won’t join it.’ and their story ended there. Some of you might know about my many part time jobs. Online shop, coach, teaching, writer, designer, and so on. Some might think that I did them all because I looking for some money. Actually not like that! I’m doing those jobs, because I love doing them all. I’m an active person so I MUST do a lot of things in a day or I would sick! 😦
Okay, forget all stories I talked about above. It was just a little part of my thought that I would like to share to you :). Back to the topic, today I would like to share you about my day (the day before yesterday, #lol). I accompanied my mum to a lot of places yesterday and ended at Bilka Supermarket to check mum’s cookies that she entrusted there. After that, she knew that I was a bit thirsty so she offer me a drink. Because I often drink Sinom Mbok Dhe, so I asked her to buy me one. Also when we’re out from that building, we found Siomay and Batagor cart outside. It was my favorite snack! I ever buy it two portion and didn’t get any meals beside it hahaha. So I also bought one portion of siomay from that blue-roof cart. hahaha

Ti Kwe / Kue Keranjang / Kue Ranjang (‘What I Ate Today’ – Part III / Last Part)

Hi, this is my last post (read : spam, lol) today. So in this last part, I’ll share about my favorite Chinese cake. Indonesian people often called it ‘Kue Keranjang’ or some others called it with ‘Kue Ranjang’. But as I’m a Hokkian, so my family and I called this sweet cake with ‘Ti Kwe’. Its name taken from how it be shaped using basket or keranjang. Made from glutinous rice flour and sugar. This typical cake that became must in Lunar New Year or other Chinese Celebration, have a physical form as a chewy and sticky cake. You can both steam and sprinkle it with grated coconut or you can cover it with egg and fried it in heat vegetable oil. I haven’t tried to eat it with grated coconut considering I don’t like coconut, so I just fried it with egg in the medium heat Β of vegetable oil.

Pasta – Macaroni Gratin (‘What I Ate Today’ – Part II)

After going to the church, I checked my social media then I slept until about 1PM. After that, I felt so hungry and I started to starve for some foods. Considering today there are flower festival in the center of Surabaya, that means I can’t go somewhere to grab my lunch. I thought to make my own lunch by experiment from some favorite youtube chanel that I’ve subscribed. I mixed their recipe and TARAAH!! I found my own recipe. Check it out bellow πŸ˜€
How to make ‘Macaroni Gratin Pasta’
Ingredients :
1/2 Onion
1 potato
100 gr Chicken Fillet
200 ml Milk (or you can use soy milk for less calories)
Cheese (you can use any kind of cheese here. Just will be used as topping)
Melted Butter
Tapioca Flour
Broth Block
Salt
Pepper
Water
Vegetable Oil
How to make :
1. Slice the onion and potato into thin slices like on my picture below

2. Cut the Chicken Fillet into a little square
3. Season the Chicken Fillet with salt and pepper
4. Heat the frying pan with medium heat
5. Pour the onion, potato, and chicken fillet in it
6. Stir it and make sure all the components covered with oil
7. Add the milk little by little, then stir it again
8. Add a pinch of salt, pepper, and the melted butter, stir
9. Take a little bowl, pour the tapioca flour and add some water, mixed them over
10. Add the liquid tapioca flour into the frying pan and stir it until thick
11. Grated cheese on the top and served while warm πŸ™‚

Simple Sushi Rolls (‘What I Ate today’ – Part I)

I woke up about at 4AM in the morning, then prepared my self to go to the church. I always go to the church in that very early time in the morning on Sunday because since childhood I always go there at the same early time in the morning with my mom and grandma. That’s might be one of a thousand reasons why I’m look like a nocturnal creature hahaha. So actually I want to made this first post of today in the beginning of the time after I went home from the church but lately I was a little bit lazy to open my social media given the condition of the very poor media connection. How sad!
So I’ll separate today posts into three section. The first section is for my Breakfast, second section is for my Lunch and the last is for my favourite Snack ever. The good news is.. I’ll write the recipe that I have composed by my own self about the picture bellow. So, stay tuned!
How to make ‘Simple Sushi Rolls’ :
Ingredients :
1 sheet Nori
1 Egg
1/2 Cucumber, slice into little long bars
100 gr chicken fillet / other meats
2 tbsp Vegetable Oil / Butter
1 cup of Rice
pepper
Salt
How to Make :
1. Mixed the eggs, add a pinch of salt and mixed them again
2. Heat a frying pan then add the vegetable oil or you can use butter
3. Fried the egg in the frying pan, scrambled
4. Sprinkle the chicken fillet with a pepper, fried it in the frying pan
5. When the egg turns to brown and the chicken fillet has matured, set aside and prepare a sheet of nori on the cutting board
6. Season the hot rice with salt
7. Filled the nori with hot rice
8. Arrange the scrambled egg, cucumber, and fried chicken fillet
9. Roll it up, and now it’s done!
Some people often ask me to make youtube channel that consist of the steps, but I still wondering about how to take the best shoot and how to give good effect such with Adobe packages. I’m learning now, soon if it’s possible, I’ll fill my youtube channel. :))Β

Mr. Cakwe (REVIEW) *Included an Extra Story : Toy Hobbies Fair 2015*

Another ‘Sin-Days’ again today. In this rainy day, I went to PTC *again* to attend Toys Hobbies 2015. I took some pictures there with my mom’s smartphone. I was a little bit disappointed when I know if the booths there was not as I expected. So, to treat my disappointment that has come all the way here, I decided to look for some ‘foods booster’ and.. considering I now have a blog which is waiting to be filled. Haha!
After a few hours looking for my target.. my choice fell to a food booth which located strategically enough among a lot of other food booths. This food booth had a lot kind of foods that absolutely can treat your starving belly well!! *Here I’ll only review about what I’ve tasted, Mr. Cakwe. Not the other kind of food they have like crepes and so on*

I ordered one Flavour Cakwe with Sauce (9k) consist of BBQ flavour and two kind of sausages, they are Hot Mayo Sausage and Teriyaki Sausage. Meanwhile, I also treat my mom *because she has led me here* with one portion of Cakwe with Sauce (9k) which was consist with also two kind of sausages, they are Mayonnaise and Sweet Sour Sausage. I was not only trying my own, but also trying to taste my mom’s ‘Cakwe’ and both of them taste AWESOME! The sausage melted in my mouth while the Cakwe tasted a bit crispy, so DELICIOUS! All snack in this booth have a cheap price (about 9k – 14k), and great taste. You must try it!! *Actually this is not my first time trying Mr. Cakwe in this booth, because I ever tried it about three times here before*.

*Psst!! After finishing one portion of this kind of food, my mom said if it was a scrumptious snack ever! Then she promised me to take me back there immediately! lol*

Roti Prata or Roti Canai (RECIPE)

Hi! Today I’m not going to write about a review of some places but I will write about ‘What I am Making This Day’. So today I am trying to make a new recipe that I got from youtube. It’s Roti Prata and Roti Canai. Roti Prata and Roti Canai, is very popular in Malaysia and India. This think-looking bread is so easy to make and very delicious to taste. Here I’ll give you the recipe that I used to make the dough of Roti Prata or Roti Canai that I mean in this post. (I will also upload some pictures about today. Keep scrolling, guys! ;))
Roti Prata or Roti Canai Recipe
Ingredients :
1/2 tsp of Sugar
1/2 tsp of Salt
1 tbsp of Vegetable Oil
1 1/2 cup of Plain Flour
1/4 cup of Milk
1/4 cup of Water
(you can change the each value of all ingredients with the right ratio!)
How to make :
  1. Mix all the ingredients (you will need to use your naked hand to help mixture all ingredients in this first step).
  2. Then take your mixer and your dough hook attachment then knead it until the dough become smooth and elastic.
  3. Cut it into small pieces like little ball, then make sure if all the small dough slightly oiled all around with the vegetable oil so that they won’t be stick to one each other.
  4. Next, oil your hands and your work cutting board (you can use your table for doing this).
  5. Start flattening it with your hands, or you can use the swinging trick like what the Prata makers used. Flattening them until the dough become reall thin, closely to translucent. Don’t worry about the holes in it. Because it wouldn’t matter if you fry it. You can shape it just like a thin circular plate or you can fold it like how you fold a paper.
  6. Fry it on a pan about 3-4 minutes in a medium heat (if you’re using high heat, you must frying it as fast as you can so it wouldn’t be burned!)
  7. Put your Roti Prata on a plate and you can serve it with curry sausage like what I did. Enjoy! πŸ™‚

Bless Bakery (REVIEW)

It’s rainy day recently.. :'(( Yesterday is the day to commemorate my grandfather’s death. We’re so busy to prepare the dishes. In the morning, mum asked me to accompany her, to go to the market buying some fruits and some cakes. At first, we were going to Superindo to buy some fruits then I asked her to try the new bakery in Superindo (1st floor). The name of the bakery is Bless Bakery.
